Behavior Modification Services

Initial Consultation - What to Expect (2 hours):

The initial consultation with Dr. Johnson takes a deep-dive into the behavioral issue at hand.  Dr. johnson examines the Pet and its People, including:

  • A review of your Pet’s past & present history

  • Exploring your Pet’s relationships among family members (pet-and-people)

  • Discussing medical history

  • Investigating the behavior profile.

  • Addressing Pet-Parents goals and lifestyle.

Following the initial behavior discovery, Dr. Johnson will discuss your pet’s diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options.

All treatment plans are created with kindness and compassion, using a force-free and fear-free approach.  The treatment plan, created with the pet-parent, includes:

  • Safety and Behavior Management

  • Behavior modification, enrichment and education

  • Medication therapy recommendations (if appropriate).

Behavior is dynamic and each treatment plan is unique, just like you and your Pet. Together, a customized plan is created that works best for you and your family.

The initial consultation includes 2 months of ongoing support via email with Dr. Johnson.

After 2 months a “Re-Check” appointment is required to continue care. Pending the severity and fluidity of the behavior issue, more frequent “Re-Checks” may be recommended.

Re-Checks (1 hour):

For existing clients ONLY.  Re-Checks are recommended every 2 months on a case by case basis. In the Re-Check, the existing treatment plan is re-evaluated.

New behavior issues are addressed, medications are adjusted (as appropriate) and a revised treatment plan will be developed.
